Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team fell victim to the powerful post game of the visiting Bison of Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon by a 77-71 margin in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action at the Iorio Gymnasium. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 1-12 overall on the season including a 1-4 record in league play while the Bison improve to 6-5 overall with a 3-2 mark in NEAC play.
The Fighting Tigers trailed 36-35 at the half as sophomore guard
Malik Chambers, West Point, N.Y., James I. O'Neil High School, exploded for 18 points on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the three-point line as Cobleskill shot an impressive 53.8% from the arch in the half converting on 7-of-13.
However the Bison managed to use their considerable size advantage throughout the contest to outscoring the Orange & Black in the paint 24-to-12 while rejecting six Cobleskill shots on the afternoon compared to none for the home team to secure the win down the stretch during the second half.
Chambers led the way for the Fighting Tigers with a career high of 28 points while junior guard Quincy Miller, Brooklyn, N.Y., Lafayette High School/Valdosta State College, came off the bench to score 19 points, pass out five assists and grab five rebounds.
The Fighting Tigers will return to NEAC action on Sunday January 17
th when they host the Phoenix of Wilson College at the Iorio Gymnasium with tip-off at 12:00 p.m.Â
