Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team could not overcome the home court advantage of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) leading SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday evening as the Fighting Tigers fell to the host Wildcats by a score of 63-51 margin in conference action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 3-6 overall including a 2-2 conference record while the Wildcats improve to 6-4 overall with a 3-0 record in league action.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 22-13 first quarter advantage and never looked back as the despite a furious Fighting Tigers fourth quarter comeback that cut the lead to 49-45 with 5:41 left in regulation.
The Fighting Tigers were led in scoring by senior guard/forward
Ashley Creighton, Niskayuna, N.Y., Catholic Central High School/Schenectady Community College, who posted 14 points on the evening while junior forward
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, recorded her sixth double/double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman forward
Morgan Bullis, Bainbridge, N.Y., Bainbridge-Guildford High School, continued her strong play off the bench to: score 13 points, grab nine rebounds and block two shots for the visitors.
Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday January 16
th when they will host the Bison of Gallaudet University for a NEAC contest with tip-off at 3:00 p.m.
