Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team fell in overtime to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Gallaudet University on Saturday afternoon by a 72-65 margin at the Iorio Gymnasium. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 3-7 overall on the season including a 2-3 record in league play while the Bison improve to 6-5 overall with a 5-2 record in NEAC action.
The Fighting Tigers missed a pair of shots to win the contest in the last minute of regulation after tying the score at 58-to-58 with 1:23 left on a pair of free throws by junior guard
Shiann Coons, Albany, N.Y., Bishop Maginn High School/Schenectady Community College, who had 17 points and four assists on the afternoon.
The Orange & Black were led throughout the contest by junior forward
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, who posted here seventh double/double of the year with 22 points and 19 rebounds to go with three assists and by senior guard/forward
Ashley Creighton, Niskayuna, N.Y., Catholic Central High School/Schenectady Community College, who had 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
The Bison continuously beat back the Fighting Tigers throughout the game led by senior guard Zamica Gage, Washington, D.C., Model Secondary School for the Deaf-Fremont, who channeled her inner Lebron James to score 38 points, record eight steals, grab six rebounds and pass out four assists to lead the visitors to the road victory.
Cobleskill will return to NEAC action on Sunday January 17
th when they host the Phoenix of Wilson College at the Iorio Gymnasium with tip-off at 2:00 p.m.
