Fighting Tiger Women Grind Down Cazenovia College in 60-56 NEAC Road Win

Preston & Coons Pace Fighting Tigers to 60-56 Conference Road Win


Cazenovia, N.Y.:  The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team posted an important league road win over Cazenovia College by a 60-56 margin on Wednesday evening in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The victory moves the Fighting Tigers to 5-7 overall including a 4-3 mark in NEAC play while the Wildcats fall to 3-9 overall with a 0-6 record versus NEAC opponents.

The Orange & Black used an impressive 55-to-38 advantage on the backboards to prevail in the hard fought contest which saw the visitors rack up a 27-to-9 edge in second chance points over their hosts.

Once again junior forward Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, led the Fighting Tigers attack with 17 points and 22 rebounds with junior guard Shiann Coons, Albany, N.Y., Bishop Maginn High School/Schenectady Community College, adding 15 points and a pair of assists in the win. The visitors also received strong play from senior guard/forward Ashley Creighton, Niskayuna, N.Y., Catholic Central High School/Schenectady Community College, had 11 points and six rebounds and from freshman forward Morgan Bullis, Bainbridge, N.Y., Bainbridge-Guilford High School, who scored eight points, pulled down 12 rebounds, passed our eight assists and blocked two shots on the evening.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday January 23rd when they travel to Williamsport, Pa. to face the Wildcats of Penn College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
