Fighting Tiger Volleyball Roars Past Visiting Castleton University 3-0

Women's Volleyball Wins Second Straight Topping Castleton 3-0 in Non-League Action

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team continued their winning ways on Wednesday evening returning from the college's fall break to post a 3-0 non-conference victory over the Spartans of Castleton University by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-22 to run their current winning streak to two games. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 8-14 on the year while the Spartans fall to 7-8 overall.

Cobleskill used a strong upfront presence to wrestle the contest away from the determined visitors as the combination of sophomore middle hitter Emilie Reimer, Mattituck, N.Y., Mattituck High School, who posted: seven kills, seven digs and a solo block and freshman middle hitter Katerina Weingarten, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, who had seven kills and two total blocks on the evening controlled the net throughout the contest.

The Fighting Tiger backline performers also contributed their fair share to the victory as sophomore setter Mackenzie Holbert, Sauquoit, N.Y., New Hartford High School/Herkimer Community College, quarterbacked the Orange & Black to the win with a team high of 15 assists to go with six digs, three kills, and two service aces while senior setter Casey Haughney, Melrose, N.Y., Hoosic Valley High School, adding 11 assists and a pair of digs on the evening. Senior libero Gabby Clark, Oneida, N.Y., Oneida High School, was stellar defensively for the winners with a match high 16 digs and a pair of service aces.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday October 19th when they travel to Utica, N.Y. to meet the Pioneers of Utica College in non-league action beginning at 7:00 p.m.
