Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play-off hopes took a hit on Saturday afternoon the Fighting Tigers were upset by league bottom dweller Penn College by a 1-0 margin at the Soccer/Lax Complex. The loss drops the Fighting Tiger to 5-6-2 overall on the season with a 3-4-2 mark in league play while the Wildcats improve to 3-12 overall with a 2-7 record versus conference opponents.
In a game that would have made a student of sabermetrics confused; the Fighting Tigers controlled overall time of possession, held a 17-to-7 advantage in shots, a 10-to-1 advantage in shots-on-goal and a 7-to-3 advantage in corner kicks.
However despite all of these categories significantly trending in favor of the Orange & Black the contest stood scoreless until the 75
th minute when Wildcat senior forward Luke McFalls, New Oxford, Pa., New Oxford High School, took advantage of a poor Cobleskill clearing opportunity to score from three-yards out banking the winning shot off the far post for the contest's deciding goal.
Cobleskill will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host the Eagles of the College of Saint Elizabeth in NEAC action with kick-off at 2:00 p.m.
