Fighting Tiger Volleyball Shuts Down Southern Vermont College 3-0 on Thursday

Cobleskill Volleyball Ends Nine-Game Losing Streak at Southern Vermont


Bennington, Vt.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball returned to the winners circle on Thursday night ending a nine-game losing streak on the road at Southern Vermont College 3-0 by scores of: 25-20, 25-17 and 25-23 in non-conference action. The victory improves the Fighting Tigers to 7-14 overall on the season to date while the Mountaineers drop to 3-14 on the year.

The Cobleskill ladies posted their most balanced effort of the season led by freshman middle hitter Katerina Weingarten, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, who had a team high of seven kills along with two digs and a block and by freshman outside hitter Brittany Boyce, Rotterdam, N.Y., Mohonasen High School, who six kills and eight digs on the evening. The visitors also received strong efforts up front from freshman outside hitter Emily Potter, Fort Plain, N.Y., Fort Plain High School, who had six kills, nine digs and three service aces and from sophomore middle hitter Emilie Reimer, Mattituck, N.Y., Mattituck High School, who also had six kills in the contest.

Sophomore setter Mackenzie Holbert, Sauquoit, N.Y., New Hartford High School, directed the offense effectively throughout the match with a high total of 20 assists to go with nine digs and four kills while freshman libero Dani Webb, Munnsville, N.Y., Stockbridge Valley High School, posted team highs in digs with 12 and service aces with five.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Wednesday October 12th when they host the Spartans of Castleton State College in non-conference play with first serve scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
