Clinton, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team took to the road on Monday evening for a non-league meeting with the Continentals of Hamilton College. But the road once again proved to be a rocky one for the Fighting Tigers as they dropped their third straight contest by a score of 62-47 to fall to 6-10 overall on the season. The win improves Hamilton to 7-13 overall on the campaign.
The Orange & Black jumped on their hosts early using aggressive defense and some strong work in the paint to post an impressive 14-11 lead. However the Continentals regrouped in the second period to take a 34-25 lead into the half from which point the Cobleskill ladies could come no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Turnovers continued to plague Cobleskill in defeat as the Fighting Tigers committed 26 on the evening which directly led to 30 Hamilton points on the evening. Â
Junior guard
Shiann Coons, Albany, N.Y., Bishop McGinn High School/Schenectady Community College, led the Fighting Tigers in scoring with 19 points while junior forward
Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, led all players in rebounds with 12 to go with six points. The visitors also received a solid effort from freshman forward
Morgan Bullis, Bainbridge, N.Y., Bainbridge-Guilford High School, who scored nine points to go with five rebounds on the evening.
Cobleskill will return to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action on Wednesday evening February 3
rd when they host the Wildcats of Cazenovia College at the Iorio Gymnasium with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
