Fighting Tiger Women's Basketball Downs SUNY Canton 57-51 in Home Finale

Preston & Bullis Post Double/Doubles in Home Victory Over Kangaroos


Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team closed the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday evening by defeating the visiting Kangaroos of SUNY Canton in non-league action by a 57-51 margin at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 9-14 overall on the season while the Kangaroos fall to 8-15 overall on the campaign.

The Fighting Tigers front-line players once again proved to be the difference in the contest as junior forward Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, posted a double/double with 12 points and 12 rebounds along with three assists while freshman forward Morgan Bullis, Bainbridge, N.Y., Bainbridge-Guilford High School, also recorded a double/double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman center Brianna Florian, Fort Plain, N.Y., Fort Plain High School, was also a factor in the paint coming off the bench to score six points, grab five rebounds and a blocked shot on the evening.

From the backcourt the Orange & Black received strong outings from junior guard Tegan Matthew, Galway, N.Y., Galway High School, with five points, three rebounds and three assists, sophomore guard Nia Moore, East Greenbush, N.Y., Columbia High School, with six points and a pair of steals and from sophomore guard Felicia Snyder, Galway, N.Y., Galway High School, with five points in her first start of the season.   

Cobleskill will close out their 2015-16 campaign this weekend when they travel to Aurora, N.Y. on Friday February 19th to meet the Express of Wells College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action beginning at 7:00 p.m. prior to traveling to Keuka Park, N.Y. on Saturday February 20th for an NEAC meeting with the Wolfpack of Keuka College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
