Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss in overtime on Sunday afternoon to visiting Penn State Abington in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play by a 62-55 margin at the Iorio Gymnasium. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 7-12 overall on the season including a 6-7 NEAC record while the Nittany Lions improve to 12-6 overall with an 8-6 record versus league opponents.
The Fighting Tigers took a 49-46 advantage on a pair of free throws by junior guard
Shiann Coons, Albany, N.Y., Bishop Maginn High School/Schenectady Community College, with 20 seconds remaining in regulation.
Out of a time out the Nittany Lions set up an inbounds play which the Fighting Tigers contained effectively. Ashley Creighton, Niskayuna, N.Y., Catholic Central High School/Schenectady Community College, added a team high of 16 points along with three assists and three rebounds on the day for Cobleskill.
The Fighting Tigers will head back to the court on Wednesday February 10
th when they meet the Mustangs of Morrisville State College in NEAC action beginning at 7:00 p.m. Â
