Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team continued to struggle on the road as the Fighting Tigers dropped a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contests to host SUNY Polytechnic Institute on Saturday afternoon by scores of 9-1 and 10-2. With the losses the Fighting Tigers fall to 2-18 overall including a conference record of 2-10 while the Wildcats improve to 11-13 overall with a 7-3 conference mark.
In the first game the Fighting Tigers offense once again showed signs of little punch as the Orange & Black could muster only three hits against Wildcat pitching in the contest.
Freshman designated hitter
Casey Haughney, Melrose, N.Y., Hoosic Valley High School, continued her hitting streak reaching the 10-game mark by going 1-for-3 in the game. The visitors scored their lone run in the fifth inning when junior right fielder
Easton Murray, Greenwich, N.Y., Greenwich High School, stole home.
In the second game the Fighting Tigers once again had few answers of the Wildcats on the afternoon as the home squad scored five of their 10 runs in the first two innings and never looked back.
Sophomore shortstop
Jaimee Lord, Mechanicville, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, was 2-for-3 in the contest with a double and a run scored while freshman second baseman
Georgianna Crisci, Walden, N.Y., Valley Central High School, went 1-for-2 with an RBI for Cobleskill.
The Fighting Tigers and Wildcats will turn thing around quickly as SUNY Poly will travel to Cobleskill on Sunday for an NEAC contest at Fighting Tiger Park beginning at 12:00 p.m.
