Men's Soccer Drops Season Opener at Bard College 2-0

Fighting Tigers Shutout 2-0 By Host Raptors in 2016 Opener


Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team opened the 2016 season with a 2-0 road to the host Raptors of Bard College season opener for both teams on Thursday night in non-league action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers open the campaign with a 0-1 record while Bard starts off the year at 1-0.

Raptor junior forward Nick Shenberger, Hummelstown, Pa., Hersey High School, scored the eventual game winner in the 6th minute of play as the home team used a strong first half and a late insurance goal to subdue the Orange & Black.

Freshman goalie Paul Martini, Cornwall, N.Y., Cornwall High School, posted seven saves on the evening as Bard posted a 24-to-11 advantage in shots on the evening along with a 9-to-5 advantage in shots on goal.

The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Saturday September 3rd when they travel to Manchester, Vt. to face the Mountaineers of Southern Vermont College in a non-league contest to be played at Applejack Stadium with kick-off at 7:00 p.m.
