Keuka Park, N.Y.: The road was a rocky one for the SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team on Sunday as the Fighting Tigers were mauled by the host Wolves of Keuka College by a score of 8-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. With the loss Cobleskill falls to 1-5 overall on the season and remains winless in conference play at 0-4 while the Wolves even their overall record at 3-3 with a 2-1 mark in NEAC play.
The Fighting Tiger offense struggled throughout the contest to mount a significant attack as Keuka allowed them no shots in the contest while putting 49 shots on net in the contest. The Wolves also had 10 corner kicks to zero for the visitors.
Despite the lopsided margin freshman goalkeeper
Samantha Springstead, Staten Island, N.Y., Notre Dame Academy, turned in a 21 save effort with a Fighting Tiger own goal and a Keuka penalty kick among the scores against her.
Cobleskill will return to action on Tuesday September 20 when they host the Eagles of Green Mountain College in non-conference play at the Soccer/Lacrosse Complex beginning at 4:00 p.m. Â
