Morganne Dick Scores Twice in 2-1 Double Overtime Home Win Over GMC

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill junior forward Morganne Dick, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, converted on a penalty kick as a result of a handball in the 115th minute of play to give the Fighting Tigers a 2-1 double overtime victory over the visiting Eagles of Green Mountain College (GMC) on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. The win, which ends a four-game losing streak, improves Cobleskill to 2-5 overall on the year while GMC falls to 0-5 on the campaign.

The Fighting Tigers drew first blood in the 9th minute of play when Morganne Dick broke through the Eagles defense and beat junior keeper Tyah Culp, Eatonton, Ga., Putnam County High School, Georgia Military College, one-on-one in the box to put the home team up 1-0.

The Eagles then tied the contest in the 49th minute when sophomore forward Shanaya Earle, North Clarendon, Vt., Mill River Union High School, blasted home a loose ball in front of the Cobleskill net to even things at 1-1 setting the stage from overtime.

Freshman goalkeeper Samantha Springstead, Staten Island, N.Y., Notre Dame Academy, posted five saves in the victory for the Fighting Tigers while Tayah Culp kept GMC in the contest with 12 saves and several acrobatic defensive efforts on crosses and corner kicks.
