Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill junior forward
Morganne Dick, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, converted on a penalty kick as a result of a handball in the 115
th minute of play to give the Fighting Tigers a 2-1 double overtime victory over the visiting Eagles of Green Mountain College (GMC) on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. The win, which ends a four-game losing streak, improves Cobleskill to 2-5 overall on the year while GMC falls to 0-5 on the campaign.
The Fighting Tigers drew first blood in the 9
th minute of play when
Morganne Dick broke through the Eagles defense and beat junior keeper Tyah Culp, Eatonton, Ga., Putnam County High School, Georgia Military College, one-on-one in the box to put the home team up 1-0.
The Eagles then tied the contest in the 49
th minute when sophomore forward Shanaya Earle, North Clarendon, Vt., Mill River Union High School, blasted home a loose ball in front of the Cobleskill net to even things at 1-1 setting the stage from overtime.
Freshman goalkeeper
Samantha Springstead, Staten Island, N.Y., Notre Dame Academy, posted five saves in the victory for the Fighting Tigers while Tayah Culp kept GMC in the contest with 12 saves and several acrobatic defensive efforts on crosses and corner kicks.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday September 24
th when they travel to Lancaster, Pa. to meet the Crusaders of Lancaster Bible College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEA) action beginning at 1:00 p.m. while the Eagles travel to Lyndon, Vt. on Saturday to meet Lyndon State University in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action beginning at 3:30 p.m. Â
