Chicopee, Mass.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team roared to a 3-1 victory over host Elms College in the opening game of the 2016 Blazer Invitational by scores of: 25-21, 25-8, 21-25 and 25-19. The season opening victory puts the Fighting Tigers overall record at 1-0 to start the season while the Blazers fall to 0-2 overall to date.

The Fighting Tigers dominated play at the net throughout the contest as sophomore middle hitter Emilie Reimer, Mattituck, N.Y., Mattituck High School, pounded out a team high of 13 kills on the evening to go with 13 digs and a pair of service aces while senior outside hitter Kasey Williams, Wallkill, N.Y., Wallkill High School/Dutchess Community College, chipped in12 kills, 10 digs and three solo blocks on the night.

Freshman setter Mackenzie Holbert, Sauquoit, N.Y., New Hartford High School/Herkimer Community College, ran the Fighting Tiger offense to perfection with 42 assists, three service aces and seven digs with senior libero Gabby Clark, Oneida, N.Y., Oneida High School, posting a career high of 25 digs to go with a kill and a service ace.

Cobleskill will return to action at the Blazer Invitational tomorrow when they open play at 10:00 a.m. versus the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College followed by a 12:00 p.m. meeting with the Cardinals of York College of N.Y. to close the tournament.
