Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team opened the home portion of their 2017 season on Tuesday evening coming back to defeat the visiting Raptors of Bard College 66-62 at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the victory the Fighting Tigers even their record at 2-2 overall on the season while the Raptors are now 0-3 overall on the campaign.
It was not an easy win for the home squad as the Raptors held the lead in each of the first three quarters at 18-15, 36-29 and 48-45. After the Orange & Black fell behind at 56-51 with 6:33 left to play, sophomore
Addy Lawson, Cooperstown, N.Y., Milford High School, channeled her inner Steph Curry and scored 11 points down the stretch as the Fighting Tigers outscored Bard 15-to-6 to secure the victory.
Lawson continued her strong early season play scoring a game high of 21 points to go with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals while her backcourt partner sophomore guard
Shaliyah Graham, Bronx, N.Y., Martin Luther King Jr. High School, added 15 points, five rebounds and three assists on the evening. Sophomore forward
Gabby Muraczewski, Hamilton Square, N.J., Southern Regional High School, was also a factor in the win with 11 points and six rebounds and freshman forward DJ Miller-Peak, Utica, N.Y., Thomas R. Proctor High School, who had six points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots in a reserve role.
Cobleskill will return to action on Wednesday November 29
th when the open the 2017-18 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) by hosting the Mustangs of Morrisville State College at the Iorio Gymnasium with tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
