Fighting Tiger Women's B-Ball Tops Penn State Berks 75-60 to Stay in NEAC Play-off Race

Big Fourth Quarter Secures Victory Over Visiting Nittany Lions


Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team continued their march towards a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play-off bid on Friday evening by defeating the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State Berks by a 75-60 tally in league action at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 14-10 overall on the campaign with a 10-7 NEAC record while the Nittany Lions now fall to 6-15 overall including a 6-13 record in conference play.

Trailing 49-47 entering the fourth quarter the Fighting Tigers outscored their visitors from the Keystone State by a 28-11 margin to secure the victory and stay in the conference play-off race.

The senior class led the way for the Orange &Black as senior forward Ashley Creighton, Niskayuna, N.Y., Catholic Central High School/Schenectady Community College, hit for a game hit of 26 points to go with six rebounds and five assists while senior forward Shelby Preston, Ravena, N.Y., Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, notched a double/double with 10 points and 16 rebounds on the evening. Freshman guard Shaliyah Graham, Bronx, N.Y., Martin Luther King Junior High School, was also a factor in the win with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

The Fighting Tigers will conclude their regular season tomorrow, Saturday February 18th, by hosting the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College in NEAC play as part of a men's and women's doubleheader with the women tipping off at 1:00 p.m. followed by the men at 3:00 p.m. The doubleheader will also be "Senior Day" for both programs with the Fighting Tigers graduating seniors honored before both games.
