Morrisville, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team took to the road on Wednesday evening to meet one of their oldest rivals, the Mustangs of Morrisville State College for a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest. The visiting Fighting Tigers proved to be a scrappy challenge for the host Mustangs but in the end it was the home team claiming the decision by a 75-68 margin. The loss drops Cobleskill to 3-17 overall on the season including a 3-11 conference record while the Mustangs move to 14-6 overall with an 11-3 record against NEAC competition.
The key to the contest was the Morrisville inside attack which posted a decisive 38-to-21 advantage in rebounds and an all-important 42-to-30 margin in points in the paint.
Senior swingman
Joel Costello, Middleburgh, N.Y., Middleburgh High School/Tompkins-Cortland Community College, continued his torrid late season scoring pace with a game high of 20 points on the evening to go with three rebounds and four steals while senior guard
Brian Jackson, Bronx, N.Y., Global Enterprise Academy, chipped in 15 points and three rebounds.
Freshman point guard
Kahleel Taylor, Bronx, N.Y., Saint Raymond's High School, was also a factor for the Fighting Tigers throughout the game with 11 points, four assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
Cobleskill will next be in action over the weekend when they make their final NEAC road trip of the regular season traveling to Abington, Pa. on Saturday February 11
th for a 3:00 p.m. meeting with the Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington prior to a Sunday February 12
th contest versus the Lions of Bryn Athyn College in Bryn Athyn, Pa. starting at 2:00 p.m.
