Softball Drops Two to Cazenovia at Home in NEAC Action 7-3 & 9-5

Defensive Lapses Hurt Fighting Tigers in Losses to Cazenovia

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team opened their final home stand of the season on a sour note Friday afternoon dropping a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contests to the visiting Wildcats of Cazenovia College by scores of 7-3 and 9-5 at Fighting Tiger Park. With the losses Cobleskill falls to 3-25 overall on the season including a 2-20 mark in NEAC action while the Wildcats move to 17-15 overall on the campaign with a 15-5 conference record.

In the first game, four Cobleskill errors led to four unearned runs which turned sophomore pitcher Brianna Murphy, Yonkers, N.Y., Yonkers Montessori School, into a hard-luck loser as the right hander allowed three earned runs in solid seven innings of work.

Offensively sophomore center fielder Quesha Sells, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and a RBI while sophomore catcher Garielle Danthine, Sloansville, N.Y., Schoharie High School, was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a pair of RBI.

In the second game the visitors jumped out to a 6-3 lead after four innings the scored three in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Center fielder Quesha Sells continued her strong day at the plate going 2-for-2 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored with freshman third baseman Brianna Becker, Euless, Texas, Trinity High School, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.

The Fighting Tigers will close the season on Sunday April 30th when they will host the Wildcats of Penn College at Fighting Tiger Park for a pair of NEAC contests beginning at 12:00 p.m.
