Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's softball team closed the 2017 season on Sunday dropping a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contests to the Wildcats of Penn College at Fighting Tiger Park by scores of 6-1 and 5-1. With the blank the Fighting Tigers close their season with a 3-29 overall record including a 2-22 mark in NEAC action while Penn College moves to 20-10 overall including a 16-5 record in conference play.
In the opener the Fighting Tiger offense could only scratch out three hits led by senior first baseman Jesse DeVoe, Gloversville, N.Y., Gloversville High School, who went 1-for-2 with a RBI in the game.
In the nightcap Cobleskill trailed 2-1 going into the top of the seventh inning when with two outs a pair of Fighting Tiger errors led to three unearned runs to give the Wildcats the victory.
Freshman pitcher
Brianna Murphy, Yonkers, N.Y., Yonkers Montessori School, was the hard luck loser in the contest allowing only one earned run in seven innings of work.
Jesse DeVoe closed out her Fighting Tiger career with a solid effort at the plate going 1-fo-3 with a run scored in the game while senior shortstop
Jaimee Lord, Mechanicville, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, also went 1-for-3 in her final home appearance.
