Women's Soccer Suffers 13-1 Defeat to Sage College in Season Opener

Fighting Tigers Fall to Gators in Non-Conference Action


Albany, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team opened the 2017 season by suffering a 13-1 road non-conference loss to the host Gators of Sage College in a game played at The Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Athletic Complex. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 0-1 to open the season while the Gators open the campaign at 1-0.

The evening started promising enough for the Fighting Tigers as freshman midfielder Catherine Funk, Anchorage, Alaska, Yokota High School (Japan), connected from 18 yards away just 24 seconds into the game to give the Orange & Black a 1-0 lead.

However from that point on the Gators dominated the action scoring 13 unanswered goals and allowing the visitors' only one more shot the rest of the way.
The Fighting Tigers will return home on Sunday September 3rd when they host the Pioneers of Alfred State College at the Soccer/Lax Complex beginning at 3:30 p.m.
