Women's Soccer Falls at Home to Alfred State College 9-0

Fighting Tigers Blanked by Alfred State in Home Opener


Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team found themselves on the wrong end of 9-0 score in their home opener falling to the visiting Pioneers of Alfred State College on Sunday at the Soccer/Lax complex in non-conference action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-2 overall on the season while the win moves Alfred State to 2-0 on the year.

Despite the nine goals she allowed, sophomore goalkeeper Samantha Springstead, Staten Island, N.Y., Notre Dame Academy, was a bright spot for the Orange & Black recording 22 saves to go with a number of impressive defensive efforts in the box.

The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Thursday September 7th when they travel to Newburgh, N.Y. to face the Blue Knights of Mount Saint Mary's College at 7:00 p.m. in non-conference action.
