Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team dropped a hard fought 1-0 decision to the visiting Pioneers of Utica College on Sunday at the Soccer/Lax complex in non-conference action. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-2 overall on the year while Utica now moves to 1-0 on the campaign.

Playing a man down after a late first half red card for dangerous contact the Fighting Tiger defense stopped a multitude of Pioneer offensive assaults including 15 corner kicks and 14 shots on the afternoon.

The visitors found the back of the net for the deciding goal in the 58^th minute when sophomore defender Salvatore Cabibbo, Port Chester, N.Y., Port Chester High School, converted on a weakside header off the foot of local product sophomore midfielder Tucker Melvin, Clifton Park, N.Y., Shenendehowa High School, on a free-kick  

Cobleskill freshman goalie Sam Sherbacow, Minneola, Fla., Lake Minneola High School, was a hard luck loser in net after recording six saves on the afternoon.

The Orange & Black will next be in action on action over the weekend when they travel to Utica, N.Y. for the 2017 Utica College Invitational on Saturday September 9^th and Sunday September 10^th. The Fighting Tigers will meet the Hawks of SUNY New Paltz on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. to open the festivities then close out the weekend by facing the Blue Angels of The College of New Rochelle on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
