Morrisville, N.Y.: Playing underhanded due to illness and injury the SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team suffered their worst loss of the season on Wednesday evening to the host Mustangs of Morrisville State College by a score of 72-48 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 7-9 overall on the year with a 2-6 mark in conference games while the Mustangs even their overall record at 7-7 including a 6-1 record versus league opponents.
With only nine dressed players, Cobleskill played the Mustangs close in the first quarter trailing by a 12-9 margin. However in the second quarter, a series of missed shots, turnovers and defensive lapses led to the home team outscoring the Fighting Tigers 27-to-14 to take a 39-23 lead at the half from which they would never look back.
Freshman guard Monique Britton, Westerlo, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, was the Fighting Tigers only double digit score with 12 points to go with five rebounds while sophomore guard
Shaliyah Graham, Bronx, N.Y., Martin Luther King Jr. High School, had eight points and 10 rebounds on the evening.
Cobleskill will next be action on Saturday January 20
th when they travel to Aurora, N.Y., to meet The Express of Wells College for a NEAC game with tip-off slated for 3:00 p.m.
