Fighting Tiger Women's Soccer Shut Out at Gallaudet University 2-0 in NEAC Play

Cobleskill Women's Soccer Fall 2-0 to Gallaudet Bison in NEAC Action

Washington, D.C.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's soccer team made the trip to the nation's capital on Saturday to drop a hard fought decision to the host Bison of Gallaudet University by a 2-0 margin in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) played at the host's Hoy Field. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers fall to 4-10 overall including a 1-7 mark in NEAC action while the Bison improve to 6-6 overall with a 4-4 record in conference play.

After a scoreless first half the Bison scored the eventual game winner in the 48th minute of play when junior defender Deltona Markel,  Buda, Texas, Texas School for the Deaf, scored on a pass from senior forward Brittany Mallach, Milton, Ontario Canada, E.C. Drury School for the Deaf, to give the home team a 1-0 lead.  Mallach would later score in the 89th minute to insure the win for Gallaudet.

Despite 13 shots, nine of which were on goal, and three corner kicks the Fighting Tiger offense could not penetrate the Bison's defense in the shutout loss.
Once again freshman goalkeeper Korah Witherell's, Portville, N.Y., Portville High School, defense gave the Orange & Black a chance to win as the rookie keeper made 10 saves on afternoon.

Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday October 20th when they host the Eagles of The College of Saint Elizabeth at the Soccer/Lax Complex beginning at 1:00 p.m.
