Washington, D.C.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team made their longest road trip of the season Saturday traveling to the nation's capital to post an important victory over the host Bison of Gallaudet University by a 2-0 margin in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) played at Gallaudet's Hoy Field. With the victory the Fighting Tigers even their overall record at 7-7 with a 4-2 mark in NEAC action while the Bison drop to 4-8 overall including a 3-5 record in conference play.
Two first half tallies provided Cobleskill with the margin of victory as freshman defender
Mamadou Seck, Bronx, N.Y., Fredrick Douglas Academy, broke through the Bison defense at the 38
th minute mark to score unassisted to make it 1-0 Fighting Tigers.
The visitors then scored 1:17 later in the 39
th minute when sophomore forward
Moussa Bamba, Bronx, N.Y., Fredrick Douglas Academy, found senior forward
Patrick McGovern, Congleton, England, Congleton High School, with a thru ball which the talented Englishman turned into goal number 13 on the year to give Cobleskill the lead for good.
Once again freshman goalie
Garrett Maxwell, Enfield, Conn., Suffield High School, was outstanding in net for the Fighting Tigers as the converted field player made five saves to notch his second consecutive victory in net.Â
The Orange & Black will next be in action on Tuesday October 16
th when they play host to the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute at the Soccer/Lax Complex beginning at 4:00 p.m.
