Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team returned home on Wednesday evening using powerful front line hitting and a devastating service attack to defeat the visiting Spartans of Castleton University 3-0 by set scores of: 25-11, 25-3 and 25-11 in non-conference action at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the victory the Fighting Tigers move to 4-15 overall on the season while the Spartans are now 2-16 on the campaign.
The Fighting Tigers unleashed a powerful service attack against the visiting Spartans using 21 aces to outdistance the visitors from Vermont while dominating the net by racking up 28 kills on the evening on an impressive hitting percentage of 42.7% in the win.

Mikayla Catherman, Marcellus, N.Y., Marcellus High School, led the way with a career high of 12 service aces on the evening to go with eight digs in three sets while sophomore middle hitter
Karyn Knaul, Central Square, N.Y., Paul V. Moore High School, added six service aces, six digs, five kills and a solo block to the team's victory totals.
The Orange & Black also received strong efforts up front from: freshman middle hitter Jillian Nitchman, Ballston Spa, N.Y,, Ballston Spa High School, with a match high of eight kills, six assists and a solo block, junior right side hitter/setter
Regan Hubner, Riverhead, N.Y., Riverhead High School/Suffolk Community College, with five kills, four digs and a solo block, freshman Jasmine Jack-Gones, Amityville, N.Y., Copiague High School, with five kills and sophomore middle hitter
Rachel Burke, Ilion, N.Y., Mount Markham High School, with six kills on the night.
Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Marcy, N.Y. for a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Crossover Weekend hosted by the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The Fighting Tigers will open the day at 12:00 p.m. when they face the Eagles of The College of Saint Elizabeth followed by a 2:00 p.m. meeting with the Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington.
