Marcy, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team continued their winning ways on Saturday sweeping a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contests at a league crossover event hosted by the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute featuring the Eagles of the College of Saint Elizabeth and Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington. The Fighting Tigers opened the event defeating the Eagles by a score of 3-1 by set scores of 27-25, 20-25, 25-22 and 25-22 prior to whitewashing the Nittany Lions 3-0 by set scores of: 25-16, 25-20 and 25-23. With the wins the Fighting Tigers are now 6-15 overall on the year including a 4-5 record versus NEAC opponents.
In the opener against Saint Elizabeth, senior setter Mckenzie Holbert, Sauquoit, N.Y., New Hartford/Herkimer Community College, turned in a strong effort with 11 assists and 15 digs while freshman middle hitter Jasmine Jack-Gomes, Amityville, N.Y., Copiague High School, added eight kills and 10 digs in the win. The Orange & Black also received a strong showing from junior outside hitter/setter
Regan Hubner, Miller Place, N.Y., Rocky Point High School, with 13 assists, eight digs and six kills.
In their finale against Penn State Abington, Mckenzie Holbert once again played a major role in the victory with 16 assists, 15 digs and six kills with Jasmine Jack-Gomes chipping in eight kills, five digs and a service ace. Senior defensive specialist
Dani Webb, Munnsville, N.Y., Stockbridge Valley High School, added 10 digs and to assists to the Fighting Tiger attack in the win.
Cobleskill will return to action on Tuesday October 23
rd when they will host the Trailblazers of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) in non-league action beginning at 7:00 p.m. The game will be senior night honoring the graduating class of 2018.
