SUNY Cobleskill Men's Basketball Posts 94-83 Road Victory Over SAGE Gators

Fighting Tigers Shoot Down Gators 94-83 in Non-Conference Action


Albany, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team took to the road for the first time in 2018 on Tuesday evening traveling to Sage College for a non-league meeting with the host Gators. The Fighting Tigers used a high powered offensive attack to fillet the Gators by a 94-83 margin in non-league action. With the win Cobleskill moves to 1-1 overall on the year while Sage opens the season at 0-1 overall.

The Fighting Tigers shooting proved deadly to the host Gators as the visitors connected on 35-of-69 attempts from the field, 50.7%, including 8-for-23, 34.8%, from three-point range. The Orange & Black used their hot shooting to take a 46-35 lead into the locker room at half time from which they never looked back.

Senior swingman Dashown Nelson, Brooklyn, N.Y., High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology/Broome Community College, posted a double/double exploding for 22 points and 14 rebounds while sophomore forward Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, filled the stat sheet with 24 points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocked shots in the win. Sophomore guard Ian Jordan, Rochester, N.Y., School of the Arts, had 16 points to go with five rebounds and fellow junior guard Devin Boyle, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, notched 15 points for the Orange & Black on the evening.

The Fighting Tigers also received strong play off the bench from senior center Shaquill Anthony, Far Rockaway, N.Y, Far Rockaway High School, who had 10 points and five rebounds in a reserve role for the winners. 

Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday November 17th when they host the Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences for a non-league game at the Iorio Gymnasium beginning at 1:00 p.m.
