SUNY Cobleskill Men's Basketball Shoots Down Hunter Hawks 74-62 For Third Consecutive Win

McNeil & Nelson Deliver Double/Doubles as Fighting Tigers Defeat Hunter College

New York, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team made the trip to the Big Apple on Tuesday evening in pre-Thanksgiving  action using a suffocating perimeter defense and a dominate effort on the glass to shoot down the host Hawks of Hunter College 74-62 in non-conference action. With the win the Fighting Tigers improve to 3-1 overall on the year while the Hawks are now 2-2 on the season.

The Fighting Tigers held the Hawks to only 3-25, 12.0%, shooting from beyond the three-point line on the night as Hunter could only connect on 23-of-67, 34.3%, of their attempts from the floor. Cobleskill also dominated the glass holding a 55-43 advantage on the backboards while forcing 15 turnovers in the contest.

The Cobleskill was powered by senior forward Anthony McNeil, Gresham, S.C., Union-Endicott High School/SUNY Broome, who came off the bench to post a double/double with 21 points and 15 rebounds while senior swingman Dashown Nelson, Brooklyn, N.Y., High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology/SUNY Broome, notched his second double/double of the year with 15 points and 11 rebounds to go with four steals. Sophomore swingman Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, added 12 points and six rebounds to the team's victory totals with sophomore point guard Devin Boyle, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, adding nine points, seven rebounds and two assists on the night.

The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Sunday November 25th when they travel to Delhi, N.Y. for a non-league meeting with the SUNY Delhi Broncos beginning at 2:00 p.m.
