Fighting Tiger Women's Basketball Cages ACPHS 73-33 on Road in Non-League Action

Fighting Tiger Women Run Away From Host ACPHS Panthers 73-33


Albany, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team returned to action on Wednesday evening for the first time post-Thanksgiving break; taking to the road to register a 73-33 win over the Panthers of the Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (ACPHS) in non-conference action, at ACPHS's Albert M. White Gymnasium. With the win the Fighting Tigers are currently 4-2 overall on the season to date while the Panthers drop to 1-5 overall on the campaign.

The Fighting Tigers dominated the backboards and interior throughout the contest holding a 63-31 advantage over the Panthers on the glass while outscoring the home team in the paint by a 44-20 margin.

Junior guard Addy Lawson, Milford, N.Y., Milford High School, led the Fighting Tiger assault with a team high 14 points to go with eight rebounds, five steals and four assists in only 22 minutes of action while junior center/forward Stacey Sprague, Grand Gorge, N.Y., Roxbury High School, added 12 points, four rebounds and a blocked shot on the night . The Orange & Black also received strong contributions off the bench from sophomore center Alexia Massaroni, Worcester, N.Y., Worcester High School, with 10 points, eight rebounds and a block shot and from freshman guard Nyah Thompson, Rome, N.Y., Broadalbin-Perth High School, with seven points, nine rebounds and three assists on the evening.

The Fighting Tigers also received strong work in reserve roles from sophomore guard/forward Monique Britton, Westerlo, N.Y., Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, with nine points and three rebounds and from freshman guard TyLysa Martinez, Coram, N.Y.,  Longwood High School, who despite not scoring; grabbed a game high of 10 rebounds to go with three blocked shots and two assists.
    
Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they open their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) season on the road in Aurora, N.Y. for a meeting with The Express of Wells College with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
