Clinton, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team closed out the road portion of their schedule on Tuesday evening by losing an 84-51 decision to the NCAA Division III nationally ranked #15 Continentals of Hamilton College in non-league action. With the loss the Fighting Tiger fall to 7-17 overall on the season while Hamilton now moves to 21-3 overall on the season.
After a slow start from both teams the host Continentals broke a 4-4 tie going on a 17-0 run to take a 21-4 lead on their way to a 40-18 advantage from which they never looked back. On the night, Hamilton shot an impressive 52.5% from the field, 31-of-59, and 77.8%, 14-of-18, from the free throw line to post the victory.
Senior guard
Malik Chambers, West Point, N.Y., James I. O'Neil High School, scored a team high of 20 points to lead Cobleskill. With his 20 point effort, Chambers becomes only the fourth player in program history to reach the 1000-point mark in career scoring as the West Point, N.Y. native now has 1009 career points.
The Orange & Black also received a team high of 10 rebounds and six points from freshman forward
Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, and eight points and four rebounds from senior center
Christian Cooper, Gilboa, N.Y., Gilboa-Conesville High School, on the evening.
The Fighting Tigers will close out the season on Saturday when they host The Express of Wells College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play beginning at 1:00 p.m. The game will be also be Cobleskill's senior day as the six graduating senior players: Fred Carnevali, Millbrook, N.Y., Millbrook High School,
