Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team staged a major comeback effort on Saturday afternoon to defeat the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State Berks in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action by a 70-64 margin. With the win the Fighting Tigers move to 9-11 overall on the season including a 4-8 record versus conference opponents while the Nittany Lions are now 7-10 overall with a 5-7 record in NEAC action.
Trailing at the half 37-24 the Fighting Tigers staged a major comeback effort in the third period outscoring the Nittany Lions by a 26-to-13 margin to enter the final stanza trailing 50-49 led by sophomore guard
Addy Lawson, Cooperstown, N.Y., Milford High School, who connected on 5-of-5 shots including 3-of-3 from three-point range for an impress 13 points in the period.
Cobleskill then took control of the game for good in the fourth period when freshman forward Ali Changa, Watervliet, N.Y., Waterliet High School, scored in transition on a pass from sophomore guard
Shaliyah Graham, Bronx, N.Y., Martin Luther King Jr. High School, to give the home team the lead for good at 54-53 from which they would never look back.
Addy Lawson was the team's catalyst in the victory scoring a game high of 29 points, 20 in the second half, to go four rebounds and two assists while Ali Changa chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds on the afternoon to the victory.
Shaliyah Graham was also a major factor in the win with 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Sunday February 4
th when they host the Eagles of The College of Saint Elizabeth for a NEAC meeting at the Iorio Gymnasium beginning at 2:00 p.m.
