Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team dropped a hard fought 14-9 decision to the visiting Wolves of Keuka College on Wednesday afternoon at the Soccer/Lax Complex in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 3-7 overall including a 0-5 mark in NEAC play while the Wolves improve to 7-3 overall with a 3-1 conference record.
The Fighting Tigers jumped on the visitors early holding a 4-2 advantage at the end of the first quarter and were tied with the Wolves at the half 7-7.
However the home team's inability to convert on man-up situations, 1-for-9 on the day, and turnover total, 27, led to a second half that saw the Orange & Black go as cold as the weather being outscored by their guests 7-2 in the stanza to decide the outcome.
Cobleskill senior attackman Garrett Vigrass, Wallkill, N.Y., Wallkill High School, led the team offensively with three goals and an assist on the afternoon while sophomore midfielder Devin Cory, Cornwall, N.Y., Cornwall High School, chipped in a goal and three assists.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Saturday April 21 when they travel to Morrisville, N.Y. for a NEAC meeting with the Mustangs of Morrisville State College with face-off set for 1:00 p.m.
