Keuka Park, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team traveled to Keuka College on Saturday afternoon losing a hard fought battle to the host Wolves by a 3-2 margin in their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener. With the loss the Fighting Tigers drop to 2-6 overall on the season with a 0-1 conference record while the Wolves move to 4-4 overall including a 1-1 record in conference action.
Cobleskill took the early lead in the first half when junior midfielder
Mame Amar, Manhattan, N.Y., Liberty High School, found the back of the Keuka net in the 28
th minute of play to make it 1-0. However the home standing Wolves tied the score in the 29
th minute then added a pair of second half tallies to give them a 3-1 advantage heading down the stretch.
Then in the 88
th minute freshman defender
Mamadou Seck, Bronx, N.Y., Fredrick Douglas Academy, connected on a blast from 40-yards out to give the visitors hope tying the contest and heading into overtime.
However a last ditch Cobleskill effort fell short and the Wolves held on for the 3-2 victory on their home turf.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Sunday September 22
nd when they travel to Cazenovia, N.Y. for an NEAC match-up against the Wildcats of Cazenovia College with kick-off set for 2:00 p.m.
