Cazenovia, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team broke a two-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon concluding their weekend road trip with a mauling of the host Wildcats of Cazenovia College by a 6-0 margin in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. With the win the Orange & Black improve to 3-6 overall on the season with a 1-1 record in NEAC play while the Wildcats are now to 2-5 overall including a 1-3 record versus league opponents.
In one of their most impressive outings of the season, the Fighting Tigers controlled the action at both ends of the field out shooting the Wildcats 28-to-3 and out corner kicking them by a 14-to-1 margin in the victory.
Junior midfielder
Mame Amar, Manhattan, N.Y., Liberty High School, led the way for the team with a pair of goals while senior forward
Patrick McGovern, Congleton, England, Congleton High School, added a goal and a two assists to the victory totals.
The Fighting Tigers also received goals from: junior forward
Khadim Diba, Manhattan, N.Y., Julia Richmond High School, freshman forward
Chris Gardener, Hudson, N.Y., Hudson High School, and from
Emile Vwaza, Manhattan, N.Y., Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis High School, who tallied on a second half penalty kick. Â
In the net, sophomore
Josh Mazur, Terryville, Conn., Terryville High School, was the beneficiary of a defensive effort that required him to make no saves in the shutout victory.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday September 29
th when they travel to Williamstown, Pa. for an NEAC meeting with the Wildcats of Penn College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
