Utica, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's soccer team returned to the road on Friday evening to drop a 3-1 decision to the Lakers of Oswego State in the opening round of the 2018 Utica College Invitational. With the blank the Fighting Tigers move to 0-2 on the campaign while the Lakers blank to 2-1 overall.
Tied 1-1 at halftime the Lakers scored on a pair of penalty kicks in the second half to put the contest out of reach outshooting the Fighting Tigers by a 10-9 margin on the evening while holding a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The lone Cobleskill goal came in the sixth minute of play when freshman forward
Aymen Mohamed, Brooklyn, N.Y., Brooklyn College Academy, scored on an assist from junior midfielder
Mame Amar, Manhattan, N.Y., Liberty High School, to give the Black & Orange the early lead.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Saturday when they face the host Pioneers of Utica College in the tournament finale with kick-off slated for 5:00 p.m.
