Lancaster, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team rebounded from an upset loss at Gallaudet University on Friday afternoon to post an impressive 85-69 win over the previously unbeaten Chargers of Lancaster Bible College (LBC) on Saturday afternoon in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play. With the blank the Fighting Tigers are now 8-6 overall on the year including a 3-2 record in league action while the Chargers are now 7-6 overall with a 4-1 record in conference play.
Leading 35-28 at the half the Fighting Tigers went on a 24-to-7 run to open the second half to take a 59-37 lead with 11:11 left to play. This included a span where they outscored their hosts 16-to-2 effectively put the game away.
The triumvirate of senior swingman
Dashown Nelson, Brooklyn, N.Y., High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology/SUNY Broome, who posted a double/double with a game high 31 points and 10 rebounds to go with three steals and two assists senior forward
Anthony McNeil, Gresham, S.C., Union-Endicott High School/SUNY Broome, who scored 17 points, along with five rebounds and three assists and sophomore forward
Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, was also had a double/double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals proved too much for the Chargers.
The Orange & Black also received a strong showing off the bench from junior guard
Daniel Owens, Albany, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy/Herkimer Community College, who in his first extended action of the year scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Wednesday January 16
th when they travel to Cazenovia, N.Y. for a NEAC meeting with the Wildcats of Cazenovia College with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
