Cobleskill Men's Basketball Posts Impressive 84-64 Win Over Penn State Berks in NEAC Action

Fighting Tiger Cagers Maul Nittany Lions of Penn State Berks for Fourth Straight Win

Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team flexed its collective muscles on Saturday afternoon winning their fourth consecutive game by in impressive fashion over the visiting Nittany Lions from Penn State Berks by an 84-64 margin in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game played at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the victory the Fighting Tigers are now 11-6 overall with a 6-2 mark versus NEAC opponents while the Nittany Lions fall to 2-16 overall with a 2-8 record in league play.

The Fighting Tigers led the contest wire-to-wire using their superior depth with a 28-to-5 advantage in bench points and excellent three-point marksmanship hitting on 13-of-26 attempts, 50.0%, from beyond the arch to maul the Nittany Lions. Cobleskill's defense also proved formidable holding the Nittany Lions to only 21-of-58, 36.2%, from the floor on the afternoon.

Sophomore swingman Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, led the home team with a game high of 24 points to go with six rebounds and two assists with senior swingman Dashown Nelson, Brooklyn, N.Y., High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology/SUNY Broome, adding 22 points, nine rebounds and three assists on the afternoon. Sophomore guard Devin Boyle, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, was the spark off the bench that fueled the home team's victory with 15 points, five assists and three rebounds in a reserve role.

One other significant individual effort in the win came from sophomore point guard Scott Glasheen, Voorheesville, N.Y., Voorheesville High School, who while not scoring a point keyed the victory by passing out a career high of 11 assists to go with four rebounds and a steal.    
  
Cobleskill will return to action on Wednesday January 30th, when they travel to Morrisville, N.Y. to meet the league leading Mustangs of Morrisville State for a NEAC contest with tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
