SUNY Cobleskill Women's Basketball Opens 2019 With 70-56 Win at College of New Rochelle

Lawson and Cabrera Power Fighting Tigers Past Blue Angels 70-56

New Rochelle, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team opened the 2019 portion of their season on Monday evening by defeating the host Blue Angels of The College of New Rochelle 70-56 in non-league play. With the road win the Fighting Tigers move to 7-3 overall on the season while the Blue Angels now fall to 2-111 overall on the year to date.

After a slow start Cobleskill trailed 19-14 at the end of the first quarter before taking a 29-28 lead at the half when junior guard Addy Lawson, Milford, N.Y., Milford High School, connected from half court with  junior center Gabby Muraczewski, Hamilton Square, N.J., Southern Regional High School, who was alone under the basket for a lay-up as time expired.

The Fighting Tigers then pulled away in the second half outscoring the Blue Angels 41-to-28 to secure the victory.

The Cobleskill backcourt did the majority of the damage to the home team as Addy Lawson scored a game high of 20 points to go with seven rebounds and six assists to lead the Orange & Black while junior point guard Erica Cabrera, Middletown, N.Y., Burke Catholic High School, scored a season high of 15 points and passed out four assists in the victory.

Junior guard/forward Liyah Graham, Bronx, N.Y., Martin Luther King High School, scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win with Gabby Muraczewski coming off the bench to score 11 points and take down six rebounds on the evening.
