Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team returned to North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action on Wednesday evening falling to the visiting Mustangs of Morrisville State by an 86-79 margin at the Iorio Gymnasium. With the loss the Fighting Tigers drop to 7-4 overall including a 1-2 mark in NEAC play while the Mustangs improve to 3-9 overall with a 2-2 conference record.
The game was a tale of two halves with the Fighting Tigers dominating the first half taking a 45-32 lead into the break shooting a robust 15-for-30, 50.0%, from the field including 5-of-14 from three-point land, 35.7%, to go with 10-of-12, 83.3%, from the charity strip. However the second half belonged to the Mustangs as Morrisville rallied to take the game's latter quarters outscoring the home team 54-to-34 by connecting on 18-of-29 shots from the field, 62.1%, including 8-for-12, 66.7%, from three-point range and 10-for-13, 76.9%, from the free throw line to secure the win.
Junior guard
Addy Lawson, Milford, N.Y., Milford High School, led Cobleskill posting a double/double with 23 points and 13 rebounds to go with five assists and seven steals while junior forward
Stacey Sprague, Grand Gorge, N.Y., Roxbury High School, also posted a double /double with 16 points and 11 rebounds on the night.
The Fighting Tigers will return to action on Saturday January 12
th when they travel to Lancaster, Pa. to meet the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College with tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
