Lancaster, Pa.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team dropped a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contests at a league triangular event hosted by Lancaster Bible College on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Tigers lost in their opening match versus the Bison of Gallaudet University 3-1 by scores of 26-28, 25-10, 25-14 and 23-25 then fell to the host Chargers of Lancaster Bible College 3-0 by scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-20. With the losses the Fighting Tigers are now 9-9 overall on the season including a 1-5 mark in NEAC matches.
In the opener the Fighting Tigers battled the perennial league power Bison until the final serve behind the play of junior setter
Maleigha Ellithorpe, Cazenovia, N.Y., Cazenovia High School/Onondaga Community College, who had 24 assist and eight digs and senior outside hitter
Megan Brewer, Riverhead, N.Y., Riverhead High School/Suffolk Community College, who had a team high of seven kills to go with seven kills and an assist in the match. Senior libero
Mikayla Catherman, Marcellus, N.Y., Marcellus High School, was also a factor in the match with 24 digs, an assist and a service ace.
In the finale the Orange & Black was led by
Mikayla Catherman who had 23 digs to go with an assist and three service aces from the libero spot and senior right side hitter
Regan Hubner, Miller Place, N.Y., Rocky Point High School, who chipped in five kills and five digs in the match.
Cobleskill will next be in action when they return home on Thursday October 17
th to host the Spartans of Castleton University in non-conference play beginning at 7:00 p.m.
