Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team returned home on Thursday evening to take a 3-0 decision over the visiting Spartans of Castleton University in non-conference action by set scores of: 25-20, 25-10 and 25-12. With the victory the Fighting Tigers improve to 10-9 overall on the season while the Spartans drop to 7-13 on the year.

The Fighting Tiger front line dominated play throughout the match as junior middle hitter Rachel Burke, West Winfield, N.Y., Mt. Markham High School, led the way with eight kills and eight total blocks while sophomore middle hitter Jillian Nitchman, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, added six kills and a pair of service aces to the team's victory totals. Senior outside hitter Megan Brewer, Riverhead, N.Y., Riverhead High School/Suffolk Community College, was also a factor at the net with five kills and six digs as was freshman outside hitter Sarah Bates, Cobleskill, N.Y., Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, who came off the bench to contribute four kills in the win.

Once again junior setter Maleigha Ellithorpe, Cazenovia, N.Y., Cazenovia High School/Onondaga Community College, quarterbacked the attack to perfection with 29 assists eight digs and two service aces with senior libero Mikayla Catherman, Marietta, N.Y., Marcellus High School, posting 22 digs defensively for the Orange & Black.

Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday October 19^th when they travel to Marcy, N.Y. for a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Triangular Event hosted by SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The Fighting Tigers will open the event at 12:00 p.m. when they face the Nittany Lions of Penn State Berks at 12:00 p.m. then close out the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. when they face the Wildcats of Penn College.
