Rochester, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women's basketball team dropped a 92-56 decision to the Golden Flyers of Nazareth University on Saturday afternoon in the opening round of the 2019 Mike Daley Memorial Tournament at the home team's Kidera Gymnasium. With the loss the Fighting Tigers are now 1-2 overall on the season to day while Nazareth improves to 2-0 overall on the year.
The Fighting Tigers defense suffered from a barrage of effective long-range shooting from the Golden Flyers as Nazareth connected on 12-of-29 shorts from beyond the arch, 41.4%, while connecting on 33-of-71 shots from the field, 46.5%, for the game.
Junior guard
Nylasia Sutton, Queens, N.Y., Lansingburgh High School/Herkimer Community College, was the Orange & Blacks top scorer with a game high of 18 points to go with four rebounds and two assists while freshman forward
Sierra Delaney, Ballston Spa, N.Y., Ballston Spa High School, had five points, eight rebounds and a blocked shot on the afternoon.
Cobleskill will return to action on Sunday afternoon at the Kidra Gymnasium when they meet the loser of the Buffalo State University versus Hilbert College game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the tournament's consolation game.
