Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team played a rude host to the visiting Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton College on Tuesday evening at the Iorio Gymnasium defeating their visitors from Syracuse by a 96-73 margin. With the win the Fighting Tigers head into the Thanksgiving holidays with a 4-1 overall record on the season while the Bobcats are now 3-7 on the year to date.
The Fighting Tigers posted their best offensive shooting effort of the year in the win connecting on 38-of-74 shots from the floor, 51.4%, including an impressive 14-of-35, 40.0%, from three-point range. The Orange & Black also show exceptional unselfishness in the victory with 29 of their 38 field goals coming via assist.
Senior swingman
Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, led the assault on the Bobcats with an impressive stat line which included a game high of 28 points to go with a game high of 14 rebounds along with seven assists, five steals and three blocked shots on the evening going a career best 6-of-9 from three-point range as part of a 10-of-16 shooting effort.
The Fighting Tigers also received a strong effort off the bench from senior guard
Devin Boyle, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, who scored 17 points to go with five assists and three steals in a reserve role while senior guard
Daniel Owens, Albany, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy/Herkimer Community College, added 11 points, four rebounds and six assists on the evening. Junior swingman James, Conteh, Queens, N.Y., The Patrick School/SUNY Sullivan, was also a factor in the win with 10 points and seven rebounds.
Cobleskill will return to action on Monday December 2
nd when they host the Broncos of SUNY Delhi at the Iorio Gymnasium in non-conference action with tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
