Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball concluded their weekend North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) homestand successfully on Sunday by mauling the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington by a score of 87-67 in conference play to move a step closer towards a league play-off bid. With the win Cobleskill moves to 15-8 overall on the season including a 10-4 mark in conference play while the Nittany Lions drop to 11-12 overall on the year with an 8-6 record in league action.
The Orange & Black used efficient offense: shooting an impressive 32-for-57 from the field, 56.1%, including 8-for-15 from three-point range, 53.3%, and 15-for-19, 78.1% from the free throw line to secure the victory while defensively holding the Nittany Lions to only 22-for-60, 36.7%, from the field.
The Fighting Tigers received strong efforts from the duo of sophomore swingman
Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, who continued to fill the stat sheet with18 points and eight rebounds to go with five assists and senior swingman
Dashown Nelson, Brooklyn, N.Y., High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology, who added 17 points and six rebounds on the afternoon. Junior point guard
Daniel Owens, Albany, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy/Herkimer Community College, lead all scorers in the contest with 19 points and eight assists.
The Cobleskill bench continued its strong streak of recent play as sophomore
Kahlil Wilson, New York, N.Y., The Renaissance Charter School, had 12 points and six rebounds while junior guard
Marques Vaval Paris, Middletown, N.Y., Mount Anthony Union High School/Rockland Community College, scored nine points and grabbed a pair of rebounds.
Cobleskill will return to action on Wednesday February 13
th when they travel to Utica, N.Y. to face the Wildcats of SUNY Polytechnic Institute in NEAC action beginning at 7:00 p.m.
