Cobleskill, N.Y.: While the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams were making final preparations for Sunday's Super Bowl, the SUNY Cobleskill and Keuka College men's basketball teams were locked in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) battle that saw Fighting Tigers use a highly efficient offensive attack to defeat the visiting Wolves by an 86-66 margin in a game that was a make-up from a canceled contest on January 19
th. With the conference victory the Fighting Tigers move to 13-7 overall on the season including an 8-3 record in conference play while the Wolves fall to 8-10 overall with a 5-6 conference record.
Cobleskill used an impressive long range attack that connected on 13-of-28, 46.4%, shots from three-point range as part of a highly efficient offensive effort that saw them make 33-of-62, 53.2%, shots from the floor with 26 of their 33 baskets coming via assists.
The Orange & Black were led by a pair of double/double efforts as senior swingman
Dashown Nelson, Brooklyn, N.Y., High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology/SUNY Broome, had 19 points and 10 rebounds to go with four assists along with sophomore swingman
Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, who posted his second consecutive double/double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Junior point guard
Daniel Owens, Albany, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy/Herkimer Community College, made his first start of the year and posted "Tom Brady" like numbers with 10 points and nine assists while committing only one turnover in 30 minutes of action.
The Cobleskill bench once again was a major factor in the win as sophomore forward
Kahlil Wilson, New York, N.Y., The Renaissance Charter School, had 12 points, four rebounds and two steals while sophomore guard
Devin Boyle, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, added nine points and two rebounds in a reserve role.
The Fighting Tigers and Wolves will next be in action facing each other once again on Wednesday February 6
th when Cobleskill travels to Keuka Park, N.Y. for a NEAC meeting between the two programs with tip-off at 8:00 p.m.
