Fighting Tiger Men's Basketball Loses to Keuka College in NEAC Road Contest 77-70

Late Comeback Effort Stalls as Fighting Tigers Drop 77-70 Road Decision to Wolves


Keuka Park, N.Y.:  The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team returned to the road on Wednesday evening traveling to Keuka College to meet the host Wolves for the second time in four days in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. Where Sunday's game at Cobleskill belonged to the Fighting Tigers, 86-66, Wednesday's result went to the host Wolves by a score of 77-70. With the loss the Fighting Tigers fall to 13-8 overall including an 8-4 record in NEAC action while the Wolves now improve to 9-10 overall with a 6-6 record in league play.

The Cobleskill offense struggled throughout the contest to find its rhythm as they could only connect on 25-of-67 shots from the field, 37.3%, including only 5-of-18, 18.5%, from three-point range

Senior swingman Dashown Nelson, Brooklyn, N.Y., High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology/SUNY Broome, posted his second consecutive double/double against Keuka with 23 points and 12 rebounds  while junior point guard Daniel Owens, Albany, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy/Herkimer Community College, added 17 points, six rebounds and five assists. Sophomore swingman Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, continued his strong play with 16 points and nine rebounds on the evening for the Fighting Tigers.

The Orange & Black will return to action over the weekend when the host a pair of NEAC contests versus the College of Saint Elizabeth on Saturday February 9th beginning at 3:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. conference game with the Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington on Sunday February 10th
