SUNY Cobleskill Men's Basketball Downs St. Elizabeth Eagles 78-66 in NEAC Home Action

Claxton & Nelson Provide Firepower in 78-66 NEAC Home Win Over Eagles


Cobleskill, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's basketball team returned home on Saturday afternoon to post an important 78-66 victory over the visiting Eagles of the College of Saint Elizabeth at the Iorio Gymnasium in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. With the win the Fighting Tigers are now 14-8 overall with a 9-4 record in NEAC play while the Eagles fall to 12-9 overall with a 7-6 mark in conference action.

The Fighting Tigers were led by a double barreled attack from the tandem of sophomore swingman Antwan Claxton, Bronx, N.Y., Taft High School, who filled the stat sheet with a double/double with game highs in points with 26 and rebounds with 13 to go with five steals and four assists while senior swingman Dashown Nelson, Brooklyn, N.Y., High School of Telecommunication Arts & Technology, added 23 points and seven rebounds on the afternoon. Junior point guard Daniel Owens, Albany, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy/Herkimer Community College, added eight points, four assists and three steals to the team's victory totals with sophomore guards Devin Boyle, Johnstown, N.Y., Johnstown High School, adding six points and six rebounds and Scott Glasheen, Voorheesville, N.Y., Voorheesville High School, adding seven points respectively.  

Cobleskill also received a strong effort off the bench from sophomore forward Kahlil Wilson, New York, N.Y., The Renaissance Charter School, with eight points, eight rebounds, three steals and a pair of blocked shots.

The Fighting Tigers will return on Sunday February 10th when they host the Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington in NEAC action beginning at 2:00 p.m.
