Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill men's lacrosse team returned to action on Wednesday evening traveling to Bard College to lose a hard hitting 9-7 decision to the host Raptors at Bard's Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers fall to 1-1 overall on the season while the Raptors are now 2-2 overall on the year.
Despite out shooting their hosts 48-to-40 with a 28-to-19 advantage in shots on goal and committing only 22 turnovers to the Raptors 38 the Fighting Tigers could not come out on top in the scoring column as Raptors junior goalie Lyle Healy, Pennington, N.J., Hopewell Valley High School, recorded 21 saves on the evening to keep Cobleskill in check.
The Fighting Tigers were led by senior attackman
Edwin Martinez, Brentwood, N.Y., Brentwood High School, who tallied three goals on the evening and by senior attackman
Sean Degnan, Monroe, N.Y., Monroe-Woodbury High School, who scored twice. Junior midfielder
Ed White, Utica, N.Y., Thomas R. Proctor High School/Herkimer Community College, was also an offensive factor for the Orange & Black with a goal and an assist on the evening.
On defense, sophomore defender
Nick Dominic, Pittsford, N.Y., Pittsford High School, continued his solid early season play for the visitors causing seven turnovers on the night to go with a team high of seven ground balls picked up. Â
Cobleskill will return to action on Saturday March 19 when they travel to Albany, N.Y. to meet the Gators of Sage College at the Albany College of Pharmacy's Field with face-off at 1:00 p.m.
